Vietnam suspends domestic airline ticket sales

Read More » The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) said it had written to the airlines asking for ticket sales to be suspended while the Ministry of Transport developed a COVID-19 management plan. The CAAV’s website said the ministry was developing a plan that involved organising passenger transport activities into five sectors — aviation, maritime, rail, inland waterways and roads — as COVID restrictions eased in some localities. The ministry has proposed two options for the resumption of domestic flights, both of which place limits on flight frequencies and proceed in phases towards full resumption of operations. The Delta variant has produced a surge in the virus in Vietnam with 8,758 cases detected on Wednesday and 162 deaths reported. The latest figures took the number of cases in the country since the start of the pandemic to almost 780,000 with more than 19,000 deaths. According to Vietnam News, the country has administered more than 41 million doses of vaccine with almost nine million individuals receiving two doses.
