PAL sale: Tan in talks with San Miguel

Philippine Airlines (PAL) may be heading for a change of ownership with one of the region’s largest food and beverage conglomerates, the San Miguel Corporation (SMC), confirming last month it is “seriously looking” at acquiring a majority stake in the carrier. The Philippine national flag carrier is currently majority owned by local tobacco tycoon Lucio Tan, whose PAL Holdings directly holds 82% of PAL.
