IATA backs Greener Skies 2009

Following the success of Orient Aviation’s second Greener Skies conference in February, work has already started on planning Greener Skies 2009.

We will be providing regular updates during the course of the year and a date for the conference will be set soon.

Following a capacity attendance at the first two conferences, a larger venue will be used for Greener Skies 2009.

Already the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has committed itself to the conference with director general, Giovanni Bisignani, telling guests at the gala dinner in February “please count on our support for Greener Skies 2009”.

Bisignani said the Orient Aviation-organised conference was “leading the way in giving the region’s airlines and aviation industry a platform to search for solutions to environmental issues”.

“Greener Skies delivered two wake-up calls for Asia. The first message was that growth must be balanced with environmental responsibility.  The second was that we needed to communicate effectively as an industry about our good track record, our current efforts and our future goals,” said Bisignani.

Presentations from the conference can be downloaded here.
