Cathay Group has established a new subsidiary, Cathay Technologies, to commercialize digital solutions in the aviation industry. The airline company has signed a strategic partnership with Hong Kong Science and Technology Park to support digital startups with Cathay Technologies.

Air Lease reported 14 aircraft deliveries from its own order book in the three months to March 31: four A220s, eight 737 MAX 8s, one 737 MAX 9 and one 787-10. The lessor sold 16 aircraft to third party buyers in the quarter and received an aggregate of US$328.5 million in cash insurance settlement proceeds related to its aircraft stranded in the Russian Federation after Ukraine was invaded.

The International Air Transport Association has published a contactless travel directory to provide its airline members with details of airports offering contactless travel options that will increase the efficiency of passenger facilitation from check-in to bag drop, security screening and boarding.

The International Civil Aviation Organisation has updated the annexes to the International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention) with new standards for communication, navigation, airport and heliport operations and aeronautical meteorological services. “At a time of unprecedented technological and operational innovation in aviation, the ICAO Council has adopted new standards that reflect the best of emerging technologies and promote its implementation,” ICAO Council president, Salvatore Sciacchitano, said.

Korean Air and Anduril, a U.S. defence company, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop autonomous air vehicles.

Recaro Aircraft Seating is showcasing its seats for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in partnership with Eve Air Mobility at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg. The seat maker also is exhibiting its R7 business class seat, the R4 premium economy seat, the R3 economy class seat and the R2 Sprint seat.
