Air New Zealand warns of ‘substantial’ profit drop in fiscal 2024-2025

Air New Zealand (AirNZ) has announced its full-year underlying profit will be 33% lower than the previous year because of the “substantial” drop in the compensation it expects to receive from engine manufacturers for aircraft the airline has had to ground. Read More » Earnings before taxation in 2024-2025 are forecast to range from NZ$150 million to NZ$190 million (US$87 million to US$112 million) compared with $222 million last year. The flag carrier said it is engaged in ongoing negotiations with engine manufacturers about appropriate levels of compensation for unserviceable engines and accurate time frames for engine returns. “These discussions continue to be complicated, but it is exploring all possible avenues to ensure a fair outcome,” AirNZ said.
