China Southern Airlines trialing Guangzhou-Vanuatu route

Earlier this week, China Southern Airlines (CSA) completed a one stop trial flight from Guangzhou to Port Vila, capital of Vanuatu with a stopover in in Papua New Guinea’s capital, Port Moresby. Read More » Flown with a 737 MAX, 30 passengers were aboard the flight, the Vanuatu Daily Post reports. China’s ambassador to the Pacific island nation said the flight symbolized a “sky corridor forged by silver wings”. “Vanuatu’s coffee and beef will reach Chinese consumers more quickly and Chinese experts and equipment can easily travel to Vanuatu,” he said. “Thank you for answering the call of Vanuatu, China Southern Airlines. Welcome to our shores,” Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) CEO, Adela Issachar Aru, said CSA began flying Guangzhou-Port Moresby more than a year ago. Port Vila will be an extension of the Port Moresby route covering a distance of more than 7,600km. Port Moresby-Port Vila is planned as a charter flight with the next service scheduled for May 6.
