IndiGo launches first long-haul route

Read More » IndiGo 6E31 departed Mumbai for Manchester, operating a 787-9 on damp lease from Norse Atlantic Airways, and landed 9.5 hours later in the U.K. northern metropolis. After three hours on the ground, the aircraft took off from Manchester to Mumbai as reciprocal 6E32. "As we embark on our long-haul journey with the launch of direct flights between Mumbai and Manchester, this moment marks our transition from a successful regional carrier to one with growing global relevance," IndiGo CEO, Pieter Elbers, said. "This milestone is a reflection of IndiGo’s growing global ambitions and its contribution to India’s emergence as a global aviation hub." The LCC is the only airline flying nonstop between the two cities.
