All Nippon Airways reports "challenging" domestic market

All Nippon Airways (ANA) describes conditions in its domestic business as challenging amid soft business travel demand and rising operating costs. Read More » The Star Alliance member’s domestic flight operations for the second half of its fiscal year, which ends next March 31, are forecast to be lower by 1% against the same months a year ago. "Compared with pre-pandemic levels, Japan’s domestic market has not experienced a full recovery in business travel demand," ANA said. "Additionally, with increasing costs, it has become challenging to generate a profit." ANA has a more upbeat assessment of its international network, with flight operations forecast to be 6% higher year-on-year in the six months from October to March 2026. Notable schedule increases in the Asia-Pacific are Tokyo Narita-Hong Kong to daily, Haneda-Hong Kong at double daily and Narita-Perth to increase to seven days a week.
