IndiGo increases domestic market share in July

Data analyzing India’s domestic market published by the country’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) reports IndiGo strengthened its dominant position in the sector to 65.2% market share against 64.5% in June. Read More » DGCA said Air India Group market share slipped to 26.2% from 27.1%, Akasa Air improved to 5.5% and SpiceJet edged higher to 2%. Overall the country’s domestic air passenger traffic declined year-on-year in the 31 days, its first contraction in several months. Passengers carried were fewer by 2.9% at 12.6 million compared with 13 million air travellers in the matching month in 2024. Airlines also reported lower load factor. Air India Group’s load factor was 78.6% in July compared with 81.5% in June and IndiGo load factor dropped to 84.1% from 85.4% in the previous 30 days. Akasa Air performed better with a July load factor of 90.2% down from 91.4% a month earlier. SpiceJet’s load factor dipped only slightly, to 84.2%, compared with 85.2% in the 2025 mid-year month.
