Australia’s domestic passenger traffic increased 4% in July

Airlines in Australia flew 5.4 million customers on domestic flights in July compared with the 5.2 million air travellers they transported in the same month a year ago. Passenger load factor was 83.4% for the month, 1.9 percentage points higher than the 81.5% it registered in August 2024, Bureau of Research Infrastructure and Transport Economics (BITRE) reports. Passengers who travelled on Australia’s busiest domestic rotation – Melbourne-Sydney – declined 1.5% in the month, to 820,200, against 832,900 air travellers in July 2024.
