Indian LCC SpiceJet has reported a consolidated net loss of INR6.2 billion (US$7 million) in the second quarter of the financial year 2025-26, ended September 2025, compared to an NR4.6 billion loss in the same period a year earlier. Read More » The company said the loss is caused by the exchange rates of US$ based future obligations, and airspace restrictions resulting in a sharp escalation in operating costs. The operating revenue declined 13% year-on-year to INR7.1 billion, from INR8.2 billion in the second quarter of 2024. “The September quarter was a period of consolidation and groundwork for our next phase of growth. While the results reflect short-term costs related to fleet revival and expansion, these are strategic investments that will start yielding results from the current quarter onward,” Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet, said. During the July-September period, SpiceJet finalised lease agreements for 19 aircraft. “These additions, coupled with the reactivation of grounded planes, will enable the airline to rapidly ramp up capacity and expand its international footprint in the festive and winter season,” the LCC said.
