China Eastern inaugurates Shanghai-Auckland-Buenos Aires service

On December 4, 2025, China Eastern Airlines (CEA) inaugurated the flight on the Shanghai-Auckland-Buenos Aires route. Read More » The service is using the "Southern link" to connect China and Argentina with one stop in Auckland. Ahead of the launch, CEA secured the "Fifth freedom" rights to transport passengers and cargo between two foreign countries. The outbound flights operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will take 25 hours 55 minutes (including a 2-hour 25-minute stopover in Auckland). The inbound flight takes 29 hours (including a 2-hour stopover in Auckland). The extended flight time prompted CEA to include a pop-up window at its flight booking page, including the warning of health risks associated with long flights, and a suggestion to consult a doctor in advance to confirm whether one is suitable to fly the route. The inaugural light is operated by a China Eastern Boeing 777-300ER with registration number B-7882, featuring special National Museum of China livery.
