Read More » Under the agreement, first announced in October last year, Air NZ is selling tickets which include an Air Chathams-operated Auckland-Whakatāne segment, such as Whakatāne-Auckland-Queenstown, with further regional connections under consideration. Passengers will be able to check their luggage through to their final destination and receive a boarding pass for both flight segments. "By improving connectivity, we are creating smoother journeys and delivering more choice for communities in places we can’t fly to ourselves," Air New Zealand chief transformation and alliances officer, Michael Williams, said. "While today’s flight is an important first step, there is more to come, and both airlines are looking forward to continuing our work together on further interline connectivity in other regions." Air Chathams CEO, Duane Emery, said: "This partnership connects Whakatāne more directly into the national network and gives our customers simpler access to the rest of New Zealand."
