Batik Air Malaysia adds two new nonstop routes

Batik Air Malaysia is expanding its international network with new nonstop flights to Shanghai Pudong to commence on 23 June, followed by a new Sydney Kingsford Smith service in July from its Kuala Lumpur hub. Read More » The Lion Air Group carrier will fly daily to Pudong with 737-800 aircraft, while the new nonstop Kuala Lumpur-Kingsford Smith route will operate six days a week with A330-300 equipment. "Batik Air continues to align its network with sustained market demand, and the addition of Shanghai and Sydney strengthens two of our most important international corridors," Batik Air CEO, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, said. "Despite the broader global environment, the outlook for travel demand remains positive. The airline remains focused on maintaining a balanced and sustainable approach to growth, identifying opportunities where demand is strongest while continuing to support Malaysia’s position as a preferred destination in the region." Shanghai will be the airline’s seventh destination in Mainland China alongside existing flights to Changsha, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Kunming, Xiamen and Zhengzhou. In terms of Batik Air Malaysia’s Australian network, the airline currently serves Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney from Kuala Lumpur one-stop via Denpasar. It also flies Kuala Lumpur-Perth nonstop.
