Japanese carriers report 9.5% increase in international flights during Golden Week

The Golden Week period in Japan, which this year stretched longer than usual, from April 29 until May 6, 2026, contributed to improved performance of the domestic air operators. Read More » The Aviation Wire reports that the number of passengers flown by 11 airlines based in Japan (All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, Skymark, StarFlyer, Air Do, Solaseed Air, Jetstar Japan, Spring Japan, ZIPAIR, and FDA) increased 9.5% year-on-year for international flights to 533,093 and 9.1% for domestic flights to 2,673,615. The number of seats offered increased 5.4% for international flights to 624,552 and 0.7% for domestic flights to 3,149,234. The average load factor (LF) for the 11 airlines rose 3.2 percentage points to 85.4% for international flights and 6.6 percentage points to 84.9% for domestic flights.
