Dornier Technology is expanding its maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at Clark International Airport in the Philippines with two new hangars joining its existing hangar. The first of the two new hangars has opened and can house one narrowbody aircraft or two turboprop aircraft, while the second is expected to open by September this year and can handle two narrowbody aircraft. "We see opportunity particularly among low-cost carriers in Southeast Asia as well as from airlines in Northeast Asia, where labor shortages are most acute," Dornier Technology CEO, Nick Gitsis, said.
Lufthansa Group has ordered 10 A350-900s from Airbus and 10 787-9s from Boeing. The aircraft are slated to replace "older and therefore less efficient models", with deliveries to start in 2032 and run through to 2034, the airline group said. No decision has been made on which Lufthansa Group airline will receive these aircraft.
