China Airlines reports 13.8% operating revenue growth in April, boosted by strong cargo performance

Taiwan-headquartered China Airlines (CAL) flew over one million passengers in April, 1.3% more than during the same month last year. Read More » The passenger demand (RPK) increased 1.2%, and the capacity (ASK) decreased 2.2% year-on-year. The passenger load factor was 2.8 ppt higher than last year at 84.1%. CAL reported NT$17.7 billion (US$560 million) operating revenue for the month, a 13.8% improvement year-on-year, boosted by NT$7.3 billion, up 27.3% cargo revenue performance. According to local media, the high air cargo demand was related to front-loading activity before the rise in fuel surcharges on cargo operations at the beginning of May 2026.
