China Eastern Airlines passenger numbers fell 0.9% in April

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) flew 11.9 million passengers in April, down from 12 million carried in the same month in 2025. Read More » The decline was due to softness in CEA’s domestic network, which recorded a 1.9% drop in passengers to 9.9 million. On a more positive note, the SkyTeam alliance member’s international operations grew passengers 4.4% to 1.7 million, while travellers on its regional routes increased 0.5% to 321,590. Overall passenger capacity, measured by available seat kilometres, was 0.8% higher and passenger load factor increased 2.5 percentage points to 87.9%. At April 30, the Shanghai-headquartered airline had a fleet of 823 aircraft, unchanged from the end of March.
