China Southern Airlines reports 0.6% decline in passengers for April

China Southern Airlines (CSA) flew 13.46 million passengers on its domestic, international and regional flights in April, down from 13.54 million in the same month a year ago. Read More » The number of domestic passengers fell 2.1% to 11.4 million, while international travellers grew by 9.5% to 1.9 million and regional passengers climbed 2.9% to 156,870. Passenger load factor was 0.7 of a percentage point lower at 84.9% as capacity was increased by 3.7% year-on-year and demand, or revenue passenger kilometres, improved 2.8%. At the end of April, CSA had 966 aircraft, down from 971 at March 31. During April, CSA added two 737 MAX 8s and one A320neo, and withdrew three A321s, three 737NGs and two 787-8s from the fleet.
