IndiGo ending Manchester service
June 4th 2026
IndiGo will end nonstop flights to Manchester in the U.K. from the end of August due to international airspace constraints and a challenging cost environment. Read More » The last flight to Manchester before what the LCC described as a temporary suspension is scheduled for August 31, a little over a year after IndiGo inaugurated service to the city in July last year. To coincide with the end of the route, IndiGo said it was returning one of the six 787-9s to lessor Norse Atlantic Airways. "We inducted these wide-body aircraft on a short-term basis to fast-track our connectivity to high potential long-haul destinations such as Manchester, and witnessed very encouraging demand response," IndiGo senior vice president for network planning and revenue management, Abhijit Dasgupta, said. "It is, therefore, unfortunate that longer flying times due to airspace constraints coupled with dramatically escalating costs compelled us to take the decision to temporarily discontinue our India – Manchester services." It is the second time this year IndiGo has scaled back its European ambitions - in February it ended nonstop Mumbai-Copenhagen flights and cut its schedule to Manchester to minimise cancellations and delays on its long-haul services. IndiGo said it was contacting impacted customers to offer alternative travel arrangements or refunds.
