16 Airbus A380 to be inspected following discovery of cracks on wings

On June 23, 2026, Airbus said it would inspect 16 A380 aircraft following the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Emergency Airworthiness Directive issued on June 22, after cracks were found in a key wing component on aircraft operated by Emirates and Qantas Airways. Read More » The cracks appeared in a structural beam that runs along the wing. Five of the aircraft are to be inspected immediately. Of the 16 planes to be inspected, 15 are operated by Emirates. The single Qantas Airbus A380 affected by the EASA directive is MSN 184 (Registration: VH-OQI), currently undergoing scheduled heavy maintenance in Dresden, Germany.
