Qantas boosts Tokyo flying for summer

Australia’s Qantas Airways is adding four more weekly flights between Melbourne Tullamarine and Tokyo Narita during the busy summer travel season from December 2026 to March next year. Read More » The additional services will lift the oneworld alliance member’s schedule on the route, which it serves with A330 family aircraft, to 11 flights a week, from daily currently. "Japan remains one of the most popular destinations on our international network and is showing no signs of slowing down, with more than half a million Australians visiting between January and May this year alone," Qantas international CEO, Cam Wallace, said. "Adding more capacity out of Melbourne means more Aussies can experience one of the world’s great travel destinations, whether they’re heading there for the first time or going back for more." Qantas is one of two airlines flying nonstop between Melbourne and Tokyo alongside Japan Airlines. In other Qantas news, the Australian carrier is also increasing capacity from Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney to Queenstown, and between Sydney and Auckland, during the summer holiday period.
