China Southern likely to double net loss in 2026 first half

China Southern Airlines (CSA) has guided the market to expect a net loss of between 2.7 billion yuan and 3.3 billion yuan (US$390 million to US$480 million) for the six months to June 30 2026. Read More » The expected result was potentially more than double the net loss of 1.4 billion yuan posted in the first half of calendar 2025. "Since March, rising fuel prices triggered by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have presented formidable challenges to the aviation industry," CSA said in a regulatory filing. "Due to the sharp rise in jet fuel prices, which led to a substantial increase in costs, it is expected that the company’s operating results will incur losses in the first half of 2026."
