Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport remained closed throughout yesterday (September 7) due to the volcanic ash cloud from Mount Anak Krakatau. Read More » The closure of the Indonesia capital’s main airport, alongside several others in the region, had impacted more than 340,000 passengers and led to close to 3,000 flight cancellations, local media reported, citing comments from infrastructure minister, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono. Singapore Airlines (SIA) cancelled 10 return services between Singapore and Jakarta yesterday. The airline is offering customers departing from Jakarta †he opportunity to rebook on other SIA flights from Indonesia. Similarly, passengers with tickets for travel from Singapore to Jakarta may rebook on alternative SIA flights to Indonesia. The Star Alliance member operated an extra service to Surabaya yesterday and has another extra flight scheduled for today. "As the situation remains fluid, other SIA flights between Singapore and Indonesia may be affected," SIA said. "SIA apologises to all affected customers for the inconvenience caused."
