Qantas Group welcomes arrival of E190 for regional wing QantasLink

Read More » The 17-year-old aircraft, which is registered VH-E9A and previously operated for a KLM subsidiary, began its ferry flight to Perth, where it will be based, from Norwich in the U.K. on September 4 and travelled via Sofia in Bulgaria, Dushanbe in Tajikistan, Kolkata in India, Johor Bahru in Malaysia and Broome in northern Western Australia. It reached Perth yesterday (September 7). QantasLink’s Network Aviation Australia subsidiary will operate the 100-seat aircraft, which is expected to be deployed on charter operations. Qantas Group has ordered up to 14 "mid-life" E190s to replace QantasLink’s Fokker 100 fleet, with the type to enter commercial service in January next year following a cabin upgrade, which includes the installation of streaming entertainment equipment, USB-A and USB-C charging ports and device holders at each seat. There will also be a cabin reconfiguration to include extra legroom economy seating, which Qantas has branded Economy Plus. "For almost 20 years, the F100 has played a vital role connecting regional Western Australia and supporting the resources sector, and now we’re investing in the next generation of aircraft to serve our customers and communities for decades to come," Network Aviation Australia chief operating officer, Trevor Worgan, said. "The introduction of the E190 is also an investment in local skills, with our pilots, cabin crew and engineers undertaking specialist training to support the fleet here in Western Australia."
