The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has published updated industry manuals for cargo operators and ground handlers. The updated documents include revisions to regulations covering the transport of batteries, dangerous goods and live animals regulations, as well as a manual on airport handling. "Our 2027 manual revisions reflect advancements in technology, regulation, and customer needs," IATA senior vice president of products and services, Frederic Leger, said.
Melbourne Airport’s new pickup and drop off zone will commence operations on October 6. The airport has removed the terminal kerbside pickup and dropoff areas, with passengers instead to be dropped off or picked up from a separate undercover car park. Depending on which terminal they use, passengers may have to walk up to 350 metres to get between the undercover car park and the terminal. The airport said it was offering passengers who required assistance support to travel between the airport terminals and the pickup and drop-off areas. "We know it will take people time to get used to it, so we’ll have plenty of staff on hand to help support drivers and passengers," Melbourne Airport CEO, Lorie Argus, said.
