Korean Air to update Asiana passengers’ flight bookings in November ahead of merger completion in December

Korean Air (KAL) will begin converting the tickets of passengers booked to travel on Asiana Airlines on or after December 17 from Asiana "OZ" flight numbers to KAL "KE" flight numbers in a phased process from the start of November. Read More » The two airlines are expected to finalise their merger on December 17. KAL said the flight number conversion was a key operational step ahead of the two carriers’ integration. "Our main priority during this integration is minimizing disruption for our passengers and maintaining stable service," KAL said. "By rolling out these changes in phases and providing advance notice, we are committed to maintaining operational stability throughout the handover." The SkyTeam alliance member said it was notifying passengers of the updates to their itineraries via SMS, email and mobile messaging platforms.
