Kansai Airport records ninth consecutive month of fewer passengers in August

Kansai Airports Group, which operates Kansai International Airport, Itami Airport (Osaka International Airport), and Kobe Airport, reported that 4.54 million passengers used the three gateways in August, representing 12% year-on-year decline. Read More » At Kansai International Airport, non-Japanese passengers fell 23% year-on-year, while Japanese passengers also fell below the previous year’s level for the first time in six months, to 95% year-on-year. Total international passenger traffic amounted to 2.08 million, down 19% from the same period last year, remaining below the previous year’s level for the ninth consecutive month. By destination, passengers from China fell 66%, while passengers from Korea rose 27% year on year. Passenger numbers for Taiwan and Southeast Asia remained unchanged.
