Etihad Airways has commenced A380 operations to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. Read More » The Abu Dhabi-headquartered airline has upgauged one of its two daily flights to the Thailand capital from the A350-1000 to the A380. The change in aircraft type represented a 31% increase in seats for the EY402/403 rotation, given the three-class A350-1000 has 371 seats and the four-class A380 has 486 seats. The first A380 flight for the EY402, operated by A380 registration A6-APD, touched down at Suvarnabhumi a little after 0730 local time yesterday (October 26). The aircraft was on the ground for about two and a half hours before operating the reciprocal EY403 back to Abu Dhabi. "The arrival of our A380 in Bangkok is a significant milestone and another example of how we are investing behind strong customer demand," Etihad CEO, Antonoaldo Neves, said. "We see tremendous opportunity across Thailand and the wider Asian market, and our investment in the region reflects our confidence in its continued growth. Bangkok joining our A380 network is an important part of that journey as we expand our capacity, strengthen connectivity through Abu Dhabi and offer guests even more reasons to choose Etihad." Etihad is one of five airlines offering A380 services at Suvarnabhumi alongside Asiana (Seoul Incheon) Emirates (Dubai and Hong Kong), Lufthansa (Munich) and Qatar Airways (Doha).
