Pratt names Calio head of commercial

Connecticut-headquartered engine maker Pratt & Whitney (P&W) has named Christopher Calio as president of its commercial engines division, effective immediately. Read More »

Calio, formerly a United Technologies Corp. (UTC) senior executive, replaces Greg Gernhardt who had been indirectly linked to a delivery backlog tied to persistent production problems involving P&W’s PW1000G GTF that delayed global A320neo deliveries. Calio will report directly to P&W president, Bob Leduc. P&W is a UTC subsidiary.


Scoot appoints Australia GM

Singapore’s long-haul low-cost carrier, Scoot, has appointed Jared Simcox its new general manager for Australia, effective immediately. Simcox, formerly the wholesale travel manager at Groupon Australia, replaced Dennis Basham, who left the airline to become Australia and New Zealand country manager for Back-Roads Touring.

Simcox said he was excited about joining a carrier prepared to “challenge the status quo”. “Since Scoot’s launch in 2012, the highly visible, yellow liveried and quirky airline, has quickly risen to become a benchmark and trendsetter in the low-cost market segment,” Simcox said.


 Top THAI PR boss to retire

Mrs. Petchpring Sarasin, Thai Airways International (THAI) vice-president of corporate image and the communications department, will leave the carrier on February 15.A THAI veteran and relative of Nok Air CEO, Patee Sarasin, Petchpring’s replacement has yet to be announced.
