Airlines: Taiwan’s China Airlines has retired its last passenger A340-300X; the aircraft performed its last revenue service on the Hong Kong-Taipei route on May 31. Read More » Nepal Airlines has been unable to find a buyer for its B757-200 on the market for US$1.7 million.

Manufacturers: CAE booked a record US$1.7 billion in orders during the year through to March 31, including 50 FFS sales and long-term training agreements with airlines including Vietnam Airlines and Jet Airways. Pratt & Whitney has gained FAA certification for two variants of its geared turbofan (GTF) engine, the PW1200G and PW1900G. The former powers the MRJ, the latter Embraer’s E-Jet E2 aircraft.

MRO: Lithuania’s FL Technics will provide component spares to Asiana Airlines, AirAsia X, Nok Air, Bangkok Airways, T’way Airlines and Indonesian MRO GMF AeroAsia.

Routes: Hainan Airlines will launch thrice-weekly Pudong-Tel Aviv B787-9 flights on September 12, followed by thrice-weekly Pudong-Brussels B787-9 flights from October 25. Japan Airlines (JAL) will launch a daily Narita-Kona B767-300ER route on September 15 and it will terminate its daily Narita-CDG B787-8 route from October 29 (whilst maintaining daily Haneda-CDG flights). Jet Airways will replace the A330-300 with the B777-300ER on the daily Mumbai-Paris route from October 29, resulting in the addition of first class service on the route. LOT Polish Airlines will increase frequency on the Warsaw-Incheon B787-8 route from thrice- to five-weekly starting July 6. Qatar Airways has once again delayed the launch of four-weekly Doha-Las Vegas B777-200LR flights, this time from January 8 to June 1. Thai Lion Air will add a daily Don Mueang-Bali B737-800 rotation on July 1, followed by daily B737 flights to Taipei commencing August 1. United Airlines will replace the B747-400 with the B787-9 on the daily San Francisco-Incheon route beginning October 29.
