CANSO promotes Simon Hocquard to CANSO director general

The Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) announced this week that the deputy director general of the ATM global body, Simon Hocquard, will succeed Jeff Poole as head of CANSO with immediate effect. Read More »

Before Hocquard joined CANSO as deputy director general, he worked at the UK’s air navigation provider, NATS, for 23 years where the one-time air traffic controller rose to director operations and strategy NATS. His roles have included operations director at Swanwick, Europe’s largest air traffic control centre and creating and implementing the business, technical and operations strategy at NATS.


Nok Air decides on CEO to succeed Yodmani

After a ten-month leadership hiatus at the Thai LCC, Nok Air has announced its new CEO and executive director is Wutthiphum Jurangkool. He has taken over from the carrier’s acting CEO, Pravej Ongartsittigul who has been appointed chairman of Nok Air’s executive committee.


Andrew MacFarlane moves from Gulf wealth fund to Etihad Airways

Etihad Airways has recruited Andrew MacFarlane from the emirate’s Abu Dhabi Investment Authority as its group CFO. Before MacFarlane moved to the Middle East in 2014, he was CFO of Aer Lingus from 2009. Under the leadership of group CEO, Tony Edwards, Etihad is progressing through a five-year turnaround plan to reverse recent billion dollar plus losses.


Asia-Pacific’s new SR Technics boss

Aeronautical engineer, Abdel Rahman B. Farah is global MRO SR Technic’s new area sales director for Asia and the managing director of ST Technics Australia Pty Ltd. Before joining the Zurich-based MRO, Abdel worked in business development in the Gulf, Russia, Turkey and Asia.


Gardener Aerospace appoints new CEO; announces $125m China investment

Gardner Aerospace has chosen Dominic Cartwright, formerly vice president business development, as CEO, a 25-year veteran of the industry who has had previous management roles at Lucas Industries, Goodrich, Smiths Aerospace, GE and United Technologies.

The group announced this week it would invest US$125 million to develop a manufacturing facility in Chengdu, China. The 45,000-square metre complex will offer long-bed machining, three to five axis machining and sheet metal fabrication that includes stretch forming among other facilities. Manufacture of engine components and sub-assemblies will be part of the plant’s capabilities.


Seabury Corporate Finance adds to senior management team

Seabury Corporate Finance has expanded its investment and merchant team with the announcement of Oliver Althoff as managing director, capital markets and debt financing for the company, Chris Cantwell, managing director, engine leasing and parts & supply chain finance and new executive director George Weinmann. ”


Karl Griffin new Genesis CEO

Genesis has appointed of Karl Griffin to the newly created position of CEO of the Dublin=based aircraft lessor. Griffin joined the company in May 2018 as chief commercial & investment officer to develop the lessor’s commercial aircraft business. Before moving to Genesis, Griffin was COO of DAE Capital after working in leadership roles at Virgin Express, RBS Aviation Capital, AWAS and Shannon Aerospace, the lessor said.

I has over 34 years in the aircraft maintenance industry and holds various aircraft type ratings and his experience, particularly in aircraft maintenance and leasing, will add to IBA’s capabilities in managing all technical and commercial aspects of aircraft acquisitions, new deliveries, fleet disposals, lease redeliveries and aircraft trading.
