Chubu Centrair International Airport Company, which operates Chubu Airport serving Nagoya, has announced passenger charges for its low-cost carrier terminal (LCCT). The facility will commence operations on September 20.

The international LCCT charge for adults is JPY1300 (US$12.24), half the cost of the main terminal charge of JPY2620. The charges include consumption tax, which is increasing across Japan on October 1 from 8% to 10%.

The domestic charge sees less of a difference, partially because fees are already low. The LCCT domestic charge for adults will be JPY380 while the main terminal charge is JPY440. .

The LCCT’s construction was critical to AirAsia’s decision to select Nagoya Chubu Centrair as the home for the group’s second attempt with AirAsia Japan. Nagoya is curfew-free, unlike Tokyo Narita. Asiana's LCC Air Busan is the most recent airline to confirm it will switch to the LCCT.
