Delta is considering a new flight from its western hub at Salt Lake City to the home of its new joint venture partner, Korean Air (KAL), Delta’s head of international network told The Points Guy.

While Salt Lake City has flights to Europe, it does not have any services to Asia. Delta flew from Salt Lake City to Tokyo Narita between 2009 and 2011.

KAL has long been a leader in the Asia-North America market, serving more North American cities than any other Asian airline on its own or with a partner. The formation of its joint venture (JV) with Delta will boost Asia-North America city pairs. The JV has started flights from Seoul to Boston and Minneapolis/St. Paul.
