Air New Zealand beefs up crisis management expertise with appointment of former union boss

Air New Zealand (Air NZ) CEO, Greg Foran, has brought in a former president of the country’s Council of Trade Unions, Ross Wilson, and appointed Joe Collom as chief people officer, to advise and contribute to the carrier’s post-pandemic strategy. Read More »

Foran also announced former global CEO of Avis Budget Group Inc. and 28-year veteran of United Airlines, Larry De Shon, would join the airline’s board as will former Freightways manager director, Dean Bracewell.

Air NZ said Wilson will be an independent advisor to the board to provide "strategic advice from a unionised worker perspective as the company reshapes its workforce in the wake of the impact of COVID-19".

It has been widely speculated the airline could make redundant up to 3,500 of its employees, including up to 400 air crew.
