South Korea announces additional funding for aviation sector

The South Korea government has outlined a 115.3 billion won (US$102 million) package of measures to support the country's aviation industry. Read More » The funding includes 82.8 billion won for aviation parts manufacturers and 26.5 billion won to develop remotely piloted vehicles (drones), the Yonhap news agency reported today. This latest aviation package is in addition to earlier measures, specifically to airlines, including slot relief, a review on fees and charges and the establishment of air travel bubbles with other countries. The government also has supported the merger of the country's two largest carriers, Asiana Airlines and Korean Air.
