EVA Air passenger numbers drop 21.5% month on month

EVA Air's monthly traffic figures show the Taiwanese carrier flew 24,819 passengers in June, down 21.5% from 31,613 air travellers transported by the airline in May. Read More » Despite the decline, EVA said passenger revenue rose 28.8% month-on-month, to T$857.1 million (US$30.6 million), for the 30 days. On a year-on-year basis, the Star Alliance member improved passenger numbers and revenue by 11.1% and 49.1%, respectively, in June, compared with the same month a year ago. Taiwan is battling a fresh wave of COVID-19 infections. In May, diagnosed coronavirus patients topped 500 per day on several occasions. The situation has improved, with the number of individuals testing positive to COVID-19 averaging 30 a day across the country.
