Cathay Pacific flew 2.4 million passengers in April; Easter boosted leisure demand

Cathay Pacific Airways transported 36.3% more passengers in April compared with the 1.7 million air travellers it transported a year ago. Read More » The Easter peak and other public holidays across key markets drove robust demand, the full-service carrier said. “April was a good month for our travel business,” Cathay chief customer and commercial officer, Lavinia Lau, said. “We remain focused on reaching 100 passenger destinations within the first half of the year with more passenger destinations to be introduced in the coming weeks and months.” Capacity was higher by 26.6%, the airline said, and passenger load factor reached a peak for the year of 86.4%. In May, there has been “steady replacement cargo from other parts of our network including Southeast Asia” and reduced demand from Hong Kong and Mainland China. “We will continue to closely monitor ongoing developments in the second half,” Lau said.
