China Southern Airlines and Vietnam Airlines set up joint-venture

China Southern Airlines (CSA) and Vietnam Airlines have announced a joint-venture (JV) partnership on flights between Mainland China and Vietnam. Read More » The pair said the JV had received approvals from relevant authorities and was set to take off from August 1, adding it was the first JV between airlines from the two counties. Under the JV, both carriers will coordinate their schedules to offer more options for customers, expand their existing codeshare agreement which was first established in 2010 and provide reciprocal benefits for their frequent flyer members. The JV also built on the comprehensive partnership agreement signed in 2022. “The launch of a joint venture partnership with China Southern Airlines marks a new chapter in our cooperation, reinforcing our shared commitment to delivering enhanced value and seamless connectivity for our passengers on routes between China and Vietnam,” Vietnam Airlines director of corporate planning and development, Nguyen Quang Trung, said. “The joint venture underscores our long-term vision to offer more choices, improved services, and greater convenience for travellers in both countries.” CSA deputy director general of the commercial steering committee, Zhang Dongsheng, said: “The joint venture with Vietnam Airlines marks a significant step forward in our internationalization strategy. We will build an air bridge between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Vietnam to facilitate the high-quality alignment of China’s Belt and Road Initiative with Vietnam’s ‘Two Corridors and One Economic Circle’ plan.”
