Search continues for Air India 171 black boxes after fatal crash

With only one survivor and at least 240 passengers, crew and on the ground civilans killed when an Air India 787-8 bound for London Gatwick from Ahmedabad fell out of the sky just after take-off, investigators are combing the crash site for the aircraft’s “black boxes”. The flight departed Ahmedabad at 1338 carrying 242 passengers and crew including 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian national and seven Portuguese nationals. The injured are being taken to the nearest hospitals,” Air India said on X. The accident is one of India’s worst aviation disasters and the first crash involving a 787. “We are shocked and saddened to learn of the accident involving AI171. Our thoughts and prayers are with the passengers and crew, their families and loved ones, and those affected by the accident,” the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said.
