Virgin Australia launches highly anticipated Sydney-Doha flights

Virgin Australia (VA) returned to long-haul international flying on June 12 with the start of Sydney–Doha. This partnership strengthens Australia’s global connectivity while generating jobs, boosting tourism and injecting billions into the national economy,” Virgin Australia CEO, Dave Emerson, said. The route is being operated in partnership with Qatar Airways and being flown with 777s. Brisbane to Doha will open on June 19, Perth to Doha on June 26 and from Melbourne in December. “This milestone in the partnership between our two airlines is the culmination of many months of meticulous planning and the tireless dedication of our respective teams. It is a testament to our shared ambition to deliver increased competition, world-class service and value to Australian passengers,” Qatar Airways Group CEO, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, said.
