Air New Zealand prepped for winter school holiday traffic

Air New Zealand (Air NZ) is expecting to transport about 745,000 passengers on its domestic and international services in the two weeks of school holidays that started on June 27 and run to July 13. Read More » The passenger mix is forecast at 465,000 domestic travellers and 280,000 international passengers. The Star Alliance member has added 200 flights to its domestic schedule, or 18,000 more seats, to meet the predicted holiday demand. The carrier’s top five destinations are Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Singapore and Fiji. In its home market, Dunedin is expected to receive a huge influx of visitors next weekend when the New Zealand All Blacks play host to France on July 5. Air NZ has advised travellers to plan ahead as airports may be busier than usual. "Our teams are looking forward to welcoming everyone and helping everything run smoothly," Air NZ general manager airports, Kate Boyer, said.
