Fitch upgrades Boeing outlook to stable; notes production ramp up

Fitch Ratings has lifted its outlook for Boeing to stable, from negative previously, as a result of an improvement in operations at the air framer’s key commercial aircraft unit. "The outlook revision to stable reflects Fitch’s view the post-strike production ramp up and enhanced financial flexibility, including the announced Jeppesen sale, have reduced downgrade risks," Fitch said. "The stable outlook also incorporates Fitch’s expectation of gross debt reduction." Fitch said Boeing had increased 737 MAX production to 30 aircraft a month and aims for 38 aircraft a month by September. It forecast 787 output will average eight aircraft a month in 2026 compared with an average of six a month this year. Production, if sustained at these levels, supported free cash flow (FCF) generation "subject to 777X production pace and certification status, with higher output incrementally de-risking the operational and FCF profiles", Fitch wrote.
