Read More » Qantas Airways was allocated 36% of all takeoff and landing slots from October 26 to next March 31 and Qantas Group LCC, Jetstar Airways, received 16% of available slots. As a result, the Qantas Group has secured 52% of all slots available at Australia’s biggest airport. Virgin Australia received 19% and Rex Airlines 8% of slots distributed, ACL said. Air New Zealand was granted the largest allocation among foreign carrier applicants, at 2%, followed by Singapore Airlines (1.5%). "In most cases, we have been able to give the airlines what they have asked or offered [them] the closest available," ACL CEO, Neil Garwood, told local media. "Obviously, competition is highest during the morning and evening peaks. However, there is room for growth." ACL, owned by five U.K.-based airlines, took over from Airport Co-ordination Australia. The Australian company had coordinated allocation of all slots at the airport for 25 years.
