Asiana Airlines and Korean Air employees snap up 1,000 up-cycled pouches

Asiana Airlines and Korean Air (KAL) have sold 1,000 portable battery pouches manufactured from retired staff uniforms and firefighting suits to its staff members. Read More » The money raised has been donated to a South Korean charity dedicated to supporting the families of fire fighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The pouches have flame-retardant linings and materials that have passed fire safety tests. They were offered for sale by both airlines and sold out in 10 days, raising 15 million won (US$10,763). The airlines matched the funds raised. The 30 million won donation was presented to the Fallen Fighters Survivor Hope Sharing Foundation. "This campaign not only raises awareness of battery safety but reflects the meaningful engagement of employees from both airlines," KAL said.
