Cebu Pacific flew 2.10 million passengers last month down 0.4% from 2.11 million customers in the same month a year ago. Read More » Domestic passengers declined 4.4%, to 1.6 million air travellers, but international passengers transported increased 13.3% to 541,000. "The softer year-on-year August traffic reflects the usual lean travel season in the Philippines, particularly for domestic routes, while international passenger expansion remained strong," Cebu Pacific CEO, Mike Szucs, said. "We see this as an expected and temporary dip with traffic rebounding in the fourth quarter as the peak travel season begins and aircraft availability improves." The LCC moderated its domestic capacity growth in the reported month due to some unscheduled engine removals, a flyadeal wet lease and scheduled maintenance in preparation for the busy holiday months ahead, the airline said. "These actions optimize our capacity so we can deliver higher growth in the fourth quarter to coincide with the anticipated strong demand," the LCC forecast.
