China Eastern Airlines posted 4.9% increase in passengers flown last month

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) flew 12 million passengers in September, a near 5% improvement from the 11.4 million customers the airline carried a year earlier. Read More » The increase was underpinned by a 15.9% improvement in international passengers to 1.7 million, as well as the 3.6% growth in domestic passengers to 10 million. The gains helped offset a decline in CEA’s regional travellers, which fell 4.2% to 281,410. The airline added 3.6% capacity, measured by available seat kilometres, year-on-year in September, and passenger load factor was higher by 4.1 percentage points to 87.6%. At September 30, CEA had a fleet of 820 aircraft, compared with 818 at the end of August.
