A U.S-based group, Air T, has agreed to buy Regional Express Holdings, administrators for Australia-based regional airline group have confirmed. Read More » The signing of a deal with Air T ends a 15-month search for a new owner since Regional Express collapsed into voluntary administration in July last year. "The administrators are pleased to confirm they have now entered into a sale and implementation deed with Air T, Inc. (Bidder), which will result in the sale and recapitalisation of the business operations conducted by the group," the administrators said. While the terms of the deal were not disclosed, the administrators said no return to shareholders was anticipated. Australia’s Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, Catherine King, said the government had entered into an agreement with Air T around restructuring Rex’s financing arrangements as part of the acquisition. "The Australian government welcomes these announcements, which mark a positive step towards bringing Rex out of voluntary administration," King said. "This will allow Rex to keep flying and maintain critical aviation links for regional communities."
