Indonesia AirAsia losses grow in third quarter due to currency movements

Indonesia AirAsia has reported a net loss of 982.5 billion rupiah (US$59 million) for the nine months to September 30 2025, compared with a net loss of 598.6 billion rupiah in the prior year. The LCC said the bottom line was impacted by foreign exchange movements, noting the rupiah’s depreciation against the U.S. dollar had put pressure on operating costs denominated in foreign currencies, such as fuel. When foreign exchange movements were excluded, the LCC’s losses declined by 17.4% compared with a year earlier, the LCC said. Looking ahead, AirAsia Indonesia CEO, Captain Achmad Sadikin Abdurachman, said the airline was focused on increasing frequencies and capacity on priority domestic and international routes to meet passenger demand.
