Indonesia AirAsia losses grow in third quarter due to currency movements

The LCC said the bottom line was impacted by foreign exchange movements, noting the rupiah’s depreciation against the U.S. dollar had put pressure on operating costs denominated in foreign currencies, such as fuel. When foreign exchange movements were excluded, the LCC’s losses declined by 17.4% compared with a year earlier, the LCC said. Looking ahead, AirAsia Indonesia CEO, Captain Achmad Sadikin Abdurachman, said the airline was focused on increasing frequencies and capacity on priority domestic and international routes to meet passenger demand.
