Airlines in Australia flew 5.05 million customers on domestic flights in August, up from 4.95 million in the same month a year earlier. Read More » Capacity, measured by available seats, grew by 2.9%, while passenger load factor fell one percentage point to 82.3%, the Bureau of Research Infrastructure and Transport Economics (BITRE) said. Passenger numbers on Australia’s busiest domestic rotation – Melbourne-Sydney – rose 4.9% in the month, to 684,900.
